Ampirical is an electrical transmission and distribution engineering company that provides comprehensive customer support, from project conception to design engineering, project management, and construction.The Project Manager will be responsible for managing engineering deliverables including EPC project designs, BOM development, equipment specifications, and construction requirements for high voltage projects. This Project Manager will be accountable for ensuring adherence to Ampiricals QA/QC guidelines and reviews the work of peers and Engineers/Sub-Contractors to ensure timely project delivery and quality.Responsibilities:* Coordinates the successful development and execution of project plans, including safety, scope, cost, schedule, cash flow, quality and risk for multi-discipline projects. Provides management and coordination to ensure project deliverables are met, completed on-time and within the established cost constraints.* Lead the project team and provide clear, concise communication to the stakeholders and functional group members. The team may include personnel (internal, client, or third party) from transmission planning; distribution planning; civil, substation and transmission engineering; project controls; lines construction and maintenance; substation construction and maintenance; system protection; telecommunications; meter services; construction administration; distribution design; system operations; land resources; environmental services; procurement; government affairs; major accounts; economic development and legal departments as the project requires.* Works with customers and stakeholders to develop and evaluate project alternatives.* Advances the development of project plans, including project scope, cost estimates, schedule and cash flow. Project plans will also include consideration for safety, environment, land use, regulation, communication, procurement, reliability, quality and risk.* Responsible for negotiation, execution, and administration of agreements with customers, suppliers, service providers, and contractor resources.* Executes the project plan upon approval.* Coordinates project planning to develop project deliverables and milestones for EPC projects including; project planning, equipment, permits, land and land rights.* Monitors and controls the project, including safety, scope, cost, schedule, cash flow, quality and risk.* Measures and communicates project performance to customers and stakeholders. Manages changes to the project plan.* Facilitates delivery of project close-out, including final acceptance of project deliverables; transfer of ownership; status of project id; project accounting audit and true-up; and final project report.* Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company. Performs related duties as assigned.* Prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints.* Demonstrate a high level of personal initiative and ability to interact with personnel, contractors, regulatory representatives, and town/city officials in a positive, collaborative and team-building manner.* Review and approve drawings and material lists developed by designers.* Develop project estimates and schedules, evaluate design options and criteria for technical merit, and conduct field visits to verify routing conditions and parameters.* Review drawings for manufacturers and use pertinent information in the production of design drawings.* Travel to client sites/field/vendor facilities as needed.* Conduct internal and external client, manufacture and contractor meetings.* Manage/development of project proposals, bid preparation, project schedules, bill of materials, etc.* Perform quality reviews of engineering work for both internal assets/sub-contractors on assigned projects.Specialized Knowledge and Skills:* Advanced organizational skills required to manage multiple complex transmission & distribution projects ensuring safety, cost, schedule, scope, and quality is met* Superior interpersonal skills needed to operate within a matrixed environment* Outstanding leadership skills required to build and motivate matrixed project teams* Exceptional communication skills are necessary when interfacing with internal & external stakeholders, and reviewing the project with management and customers* Demonstrated knowledge of utility engineering practices with an emphasis on transmission and substation design; critical path method scheduling; work breakdown structure; utility accounting practices; economic analysis; company policies, rules and regulations; construction methods; contract administration; equipment specifications; property rights; and local, state and federal permitting.Qualifications:* Bachelor of Science Degree in electrical, civil or mechanical engineering from an accredited engineering institute is required. Candidates that do not possess a bachelors degree in an engineering discipline must have a minimum of 10 years of related work experience in utility design and/or utility experience and/or utility project management.* Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Project Manager or Project Engineer focused on Substation, Protection & Controls, and/or Transmission & Distribution Line projects.* Primavera P6 and a PMP Certification is strongly preferred.* Excellent computer system skills required for cost and schedule reporting (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Ampirical offers an excellent benefits package including medical, dental, vision; STD, LTD, 401K; life insurance, gym stipend, tuition reimbursement, 10 paid holidays; two weeks vacation; flexible work schedule (to possibly include every Friday off) and more.
